Everybody at Staffordshire Football Association was saddened to hear of the passing of Jim Ellis, a dedicated referee in our county, earlier this month.
A passionate football man, Jim took up the whistle having played the game for a number of years. Throughout the following 40 years, Jim was a regular on pitches across Staffordshire and became well known to many clubs, players, officials and volunteers.
Such was his dedication to refereeing, he joked about how he was refereeing his third generation in his later years, having refereed some players’ grandfathers.
Jim’s funeral is to take place at St Austin’s Church, Stafford, at 10.30am on Wednesday 28 November. All who knew Jim are welcome to attend.
All at Staffordshire FA’s thoughts are with Jim’s family and friends at this sad time.
