Women over 30 years old are getting the chance to be more than just football supporters. Working in partnership with Sport Across Staffordshire and Stoke-On-Trent, Staffordshire FA have introduced a brand new Ladies Over 30’s League which is believed to be the first of its kind in the country.
The format of the league allows ladies to keep fit and socialise in a format of the game that has little commitment. The league takes place once a month which allows ladies to continue their current commitments but to also enjoy the game in a fun and safe environment.

The 2016/17 season was a fantastic first year for the league as it was crowned Best Inclusive Project at the Staffordshire FA Community Awards.

For the 2017/18 season the Staffordshire Ladies Over 30's League will be played on a monthly basis at the central venue of Bishop Lonsdale Primary School, Eccleshall.

A number of teams from around the county are involved in the new ladies format and there are plenty of opportunities for more ladies over the age of 30 to participate. If you are looking to set up a new session, be that Over 30's, Walking Football or Soccercise please get in touch with the Staffordshire FA Participation Team.

It’s amazing; playing in the Ladies Over 30's League gets me out of the house but works around my work and childcare commitments. It's improved my fitness whilst giving me the opportunity to meet new people and enjoy a sport I previously felt excluded from.
- Theresa Hilton, Wyrley Cougars Player

The Staffordshire Ladies Over 30's League was created following an interest from a group of mum's wanting to play football. They are now able to play on a monthly basis in an environment and format that is suitable to their lifestyles.

Whether you are a player, coach or referee we are always looking for more people to get involved. Please contact our Football Development Officer (Inclusion) on the details provided above.

Don't worry, the league caters for a variety of players including mums, ex players and ladies wanting to get involved for the first time.

Stafford Soccer Mums is the most enthusiastic and keen to learn squad I have ever worked with. They love training and cannot wait for the games. They have added a weekly fitness night to get themselves in better shape – which their children and partners also join in with. The Over 30's league was a fantastic idea. And 13 ladies who now regularly play, having never kicked a ball competitively in their life before, will testify to that.
