Men's National League System Review

As the 2022-23 men's National League System season comes to a close, we review each of our teams efforts.

Abbey Hulton
Abbey Hulton had a slightly better season in the North West Counties First Division South, finishing 14th with 47 points from 38 games. They won 13 of their games, which was an improvement on their 16th place finish in the previous season. While they didn't manage to push for a higher position in the league, they can take some comfort in their progress and will look to build on it for next season.

Bilston Town
Bilston Town had a solid season in the Midland Football League Division 1, finishing just outside the play off positions with 72 points. This was a significant improvement on their performance from the previous season, where they finished 17 points behind their final total and one place lower in the league table.

Brocton FC
Brocton FC finished 4th in the North West Counties First Division South with 79 points, the same as Sandbach United in 3rd place but with a lesser goal difference. However, they lost to Sandbach United in the playoff semi-final, ending their promotion hopes for the season.

Chasetown
Chasetown narrowly missed out on the Northern Premier League (Midlands) playoffs by one point, despite making a late charge towards the end of the season. They finished with a total of 68 points from 38 games, putting in a strong performance throughout the campaign. Despite falling short of the playoffs, Chasetown can be proud of their efforts in what was a highly competitive league.

Eccleshall
Eccleshall had a successful season in the North West Counties First Division South, finishing in 10th place. This marks the first time they have achieved a top-10 finish since 2011, which is a significant milestone for the club. They showed a clear improvement on their 17th-placed finish in the previous season, and can be proud of the progress they have made. With this momentum, they will look to continue to climb the table next season.

Foley Meir
Foley Meir had a challenging season in the North West Counties First Division South, finishing in 19th place with just 25 points from 38 games. It was a tough campaign for the club, who struggled to pick up points and faced a number of difficult opponents. However, they will look to regroup and come back stronger next season, with a view to climbing up the table and achieving a more successful campaign.

Hanley Town
Hanley Town narrowly survived their first season in the Northern Premier League (West) by finishing 16th with 44 points, but with a better goal difference than Widnes who finished below them. Despite struggling at times throughout the season, Hanley Town managed to secure their safety and will look to build on their experiences as they aim for an improved performance next season.

Heath Hayes
Heath Hayes had a tough season in the Midland Football League Division 1, finishing in the bottom three of the league table with 32 points from 40 games. Despite their efforts, they were unable to secure enough points to move up the table, and will need to regroup and look to improve ahead of next season.

Kidsgrove Athletic
Kidsgrove Athletic had an improved season in the Northern Premier League (West), finishing 8th on 51 points, compared to 10th on 50 points in the previous season. They put in some impressive performances throughout the campaign, showing significant improvement from the previous season. Kidsgrove Athletic will be looking to build on this momentum as they aim to continue their upward trajectory next season.

Leek Town
Leek Town had an incredible season in the Northern Premier League (West), finishing 2nd in the league table, only behind Macclesfield Town. They put in some impressive performances throughout the season, showcasing their quality and finishing as the runners-up in the league. However, they were beaten in the playoff semi-final by 5th-placed Runcorn Linnets, which ended their hopes of promotion for the season. Despite this, Leek Town can be proud of their efforts in what was a highly competitive league.

Lichfield City
Lichfield City had a mixed season in the Midland Football League Premier Division, finishing 11th on 54 points. While they showed moments of quality and put in some impressive performances, they were unable to maintain consistency throughout the campaign.

Newcastle Town
Newcastle Town achieved survival in the Northern Premier League (West) after finishing in 15th place with 45 points, which was an improvement on their 16th place finish with 40 points in the previous season. They put in a solid performance throughout the campaign, showing significant improvement from the previous year. Newcastle Town will be looking to build on this progress and aim for a higher league position next season.

Rocester
Rocester had a difficult season in the North West Counties First Division South, with relegation confirmed after finishing in last place with just 11 points from 38 games. It was a tough campaign for the club, who found it challenging to compete against their opponents and struggled to pick up points throughout the season. However, they will now be looking to regroup and rebuild, with the aim of returning to this level of competition in the future.

Rushall Olympic
Rushall Olympic had an incredible season in the Southern League Premier Central, gaining promotion via the playoffs. They finished in 5th place in the league table, beating Coalville Town 4-3 on penalties in the semi-final, followed by a 5-3 penalty victory over Nuneaton Borough in the final to secure promotion to the National League North, the highest level the club has ever reached. In addition to their promotion, Rushall Olympic also won the Staffordshire FA Senior Cup after a 1-0 victory over Leek Town, capping off a truly remarkable season for the club.

Sporting Khalsa
Sporting Khalsa had an impressive season in the Northern Premier League (Midlands), finishing in 4th place and reaching the playoffs, compared to their 8th place finish with 60 points in the previous season. They put in some strong performances throughout the campaign, showing significant improvement from the previous year. Although they were beaten 2-1 by Spalding United in the playoff semi-final, it was still a great season for Sporting Khalsa, and they will be looking to build on this momentum in the next campaign.

Stafford Rangers
Stafford Rangers had an inconsistent season in the Northern Premier League (Premier), finishing in 12th place on 57 points. While they showed flashes of quality and put in some impressive performances, they were unable to maintain consistency throughout the campaign.

Stafford Town
Stafford Town had a challenging season in the North West Counties First Division South, finishing in 18th place with 27 points from 38 games. While they didn't manage to climb higher up the table, they did manage to avoid relegation, which will be a positive for the club. They will now look to build on this experience and strive to improve their position in the league next season. With hard work and dedication, they will aim to push for a more successful campaign in the future.

Stone Old Alleynians
Stone Old Alleynians finished in 13th place in the Midland Football League Premier Division, with a total of 47 points from 38 games. While they had some decent performances throughout the campaign, they were unable to consistently compete with some of the stronger teams in the division.

Uttoxeter Town
Uttoxeter Town faced a challenging season in the Midland Football League Premier Division, but they remained competitive throughout the campaign. Despite finishing second-bottom of the table with 24 points from 38 games, the team showed plenty of heart and determination. While they were unable to secure their position in the league, they can take pride in their efforts and will be looking to bounce back stronger in the upcoming season.

Walsall Wood
Walsall Wood had an outstanding season in the Midland Football League Premier Division, finishing as champions and earning promotion to the next level. They ended the campaign in first place with an impressive total of 85 points, finishing 7 points ahead of the second-placed team. Throughout the season, Walsall Wood displayed excellent form, consistency, and team spirit, which ultimately helped them secure the title. It was a remarkable achievement for the club, who will now be looking to build on this success in the upcoming season.

Wolverhampton Casuals
Wolverhampton Casuals had a challenging season in the Midland Football League Premier Division. Despite this, they managed to secure their position in the league by finishing just above the drop-zone with 28 points from 38 games. Wolverhampton Casuals will no doubt be looking to build on their experiences from the past season and come back stronger in the next campaign.

Wolves Sporting Community
Wolves Sporting Community had a respectable season in the Midland Football League Division 1. They finished 11th with 50 points from 40 games. They can be proud of their efforts and the progress they have made. Wolves Sporting Community will no doubt be looking to build on this season and strive for even greater success in the future.
