December & January We Only Do Positive Winner
Charles Sketchley of Burton Albion Community Trust has won Staffordshire FA’s ‘We Only Do Positive’ award for December/January.
Football is not just a sport, it's a way of life for many people. For children with disabilities, playing football can be especially challenging, but Charles Sketchley of Burton Albion Community Trust is breaking down barriers and providing a positive and supportive environment for children of all abilities.
Charles runs the disability section of the Trust and the girls Weetabix Wildcats programme, and his impact on the children he coaches has been nothing short of amazing. Despite having cerebral palsy himself, Charles has a unique ability to connect with the children on the football teams and make them feel valued, confident and happy. He has a calming and consistent presence that puts the children at ease, and his positive attitude always shines through, no matter what obstacles they may be facing.
Charles is not just a great coach, but he is also a wonderful support system for the parents and carers of the children. He believes in the children's potential and does everything in his power to bring out their best. With his infectious sense of humor, vast knowledge of football and understanding nature, Charles is a rare find in the world of sports coaching.
It's no secret that Charles has a special place in the hearts of all the children he coaches. He not only helps them develop their football skills, but he also helps them believe in themselves and their abilities. He is a true credit to Burton Albion Community Trust and an inspiration to all those who have the privilege of knowing him.
