To celebrate the great career of John Hilditch - a former Premier League & FIFA Assistant Referee and a Staffordshire FA affiliated official - a testimonial dinner will be taking place at Doubletree by Hilton Hotel on Friday 22 April 2022 (19:00-01:00).
Football has always been John’s passion. He started refereeing in the 1969/70 season and went on to referee in FIFA and Premier League games.
There have been many big moments in John’s career, including going abroad for the second leg of the European Cup quarter-final between Porto and Bayern Munich; a game played in front of 90,000 spectators.
He was also an assistant referee at the FA Cup Final between Liverpool and Sunderland in 1992 at Wembley and there was the game in 1993, when 7 minutes and 17 seconds was all it took to create “Fergie Time”.
In 2008, aged 58, John was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. However, this has never stopped him from maintaining an active life, continuing to do what he loves with the support of the NHS.
