Outstanding Contribution to Grassroots Football

President David Ramsbottom presents Mick Sanders with ‘Outstanding Contribution to Grassroots Football’ award.

Staffordshire FA President David Ramsbottom, along with CEO Adam Evans and Senior Participation & Workforce Officer Alex Scott recently made a surprise visit to Michael (Mick) Sanders to present him with an ‘Outstanding Contribution to Grassroots Football’ award.

Michael has been involved in Football for over 50 years as a player, club Secretary and, since joining the Committee at the Coors Sunday Football League, has held every role going culminating in being Chairman, referee appointments Secretary and the FA council representative.

Mick still leads from the front, guiding his league officers, Committee members and referees with an enthusiasm for the game which belies his age.

His impact on the game is immeasurable. He has led the league by appointing the right people to the right jobs to help grow the league to 65 teams across 6 divisions making the Coors Sunday Football League the biggest League in the County.

His knowledge and experience has helped to mould those around him and, to the clubs, he is a figurehead that the league can be justifiably proud of.
