Leek Post Charity Shield

Around £1,700-£2,000 has been raised for the Kieran Rutter legacy fund.

This year, the Leek Post Charity Shield was held over two weekends such is its growing popularity.

The first weekend saw the introduction of a junior girls tournament organised by Georgina Chandler. Port Vale were crowned U12s champions & Pelsall Villa Colts won the U13s tournament.

This was followed by the senior men’s semi-finals which saw Ball Haye Green overcome a very talented Leek Town U18s took which was decided by a penalty shoot out. Leek CSOB secured their place in the final by beating Cheadle Town to set up an all Leek final for the 134yr old shield.

The following weekend saw another very successful junior boys tournament organised by Danny Hyde with Leek CSOB Cobras U9s & Milton United U11s & U12s crowned champions.

This was followed by a very competitive veterans’ tournament which saw Leek CSOB win a 5-team round robin competition. The Charity Shield itself was won by Leek CSOB who beat old foes Ball Haye Green 3:1 to retain the shield.

Though donations are still being counted, around £1700-£2000 has been raised for the Kieran Rutter legacy fund.
