A Tribute to Edward 'Ted' Evans
Staffordshire FA were extremely saddened to receive the news at the beginning of the week that Edward ‘Ted’ Evans had passed away.
Ted was a Life Vice President of the Association, who was involved in most of our committees over the years and was Chair of both the Youth and Ladies Committees. Ted was a fantastic servant of the Association, supporting our Representative Teams nationwide and there are not many County Cup Finals over the last twenty years and beyond that Ted wasn’t volunteering on the gate, come rain or shine.
Away from the Association, Ted and his wife Rose were avid followers of their beloved Stoke City Football Club, and his passion for all levels of football across Staffordshire played a huge part in his life. From his early days of refereeing in leagues across the north of the county and the various roles that he held on league committees; Ted dedicated over 50 years of his life to supporting grassroots football in Staffordshire.
Away from football Ted was a hugely popular character in his local community, regularly transporting members of the local community around the area on the minibus he loved driving, always with a beaming smile and a joke with his passengers.
Ted was a lovely man with an incredibly kind heart, a friend to many of us who will be sadly missed. Our thoughts go out to his wife Rose and the family at this difficult time.
