Re-Certification of FA Safeguarding Children Workshop and Emergency Aid Qualifications

Important information regarding the validity of key qualifications for those working with young people in Staffordshire.

Providing a safe and enjoyable environment for everyone to participate in football must be a priority to everyone involved in the game. 

Staffordshire FA is passionate in trying to support clubs in developing good practices that promotes safety within the game.

FA Safeguarding Children workshops are available to book through the Staffordshire FA website. 

These courses are recommended to all roles within a football club that have direct contact with players under the age of 18. The course can also be accessed by anyone with an interest in the safeguarding of young people and offers a basic level of awareness around identifying safeguarding concerns and how to escalate these appropriately.

If you have previously completed an FA Safeguarding Workshop you can recertify online for FREE

This can be completed by clicking here

Individuals have the choice to attend a Safeguarding Workshop if they do not wish to complete the course online.     

The FA is unable to accept safeguarding qualifications awarded by external bodies. FA courses are quality assured and designed to be fit for football purposes, we cannot guarantee the same for externally led courses. 


The FA Emergency Aid course is now known has the FA level 1 Introduction to First Aid in Football.

This again is a course that is highly recommended to promote the safety and wellbeing of players.

If you have completed a non FA first aid course this will not automatically be accepted by the FA. 

There is a very small number of courses that the FA will accept and can be transferred to your FAN. 

We recommend that you attend the FA run course, however if you have attended a non FA run course or you are thinking of attending a non FA run course we recommend you contact FA Education to confirm if the course will be appropriate.

Irish Rugby Union SAFE level 1 course
Corobeus sports Consultancy Emergency First Aid in Sport course
St Johns Basic Sports First Aid
The Red Cross first aid for sports course
Fitness First Aid level 3 award in First Aid for Sport (RQF)
ITC Level 3 award in first aid for sport, Exercise and Fitness ITC certificate for Sport Exercise and Fitness at SCQF level 6
