Stafford Soccer Mums take on Mochdre Lionesses

Yesterday Stafford Soccer Mums played host to Mochdre Lionesses in their annual international fixture.

With over 150 people in attendance and over 35 ladies playing, Stafford Soccer Mums fielded 3 teams to compete in a friendly tournament against their Welsh counterparts.

Organised by a fantastic volunteer workforce, the day proved to be a great success, with some of the ladies playing their first ever football match. Whilst there were smiles both on and off the field, Wales were victorious as Mochdre Lionesses won all of their matches. The day proved to be a fantastic opportunity for all, with the ladies and their families enjoying an alternative format of football.

A missed generation, Stafford Soccer Mums formed in 2017, a group of ladies who had never had the opportunity to play football. Having finished their second season in the Staffordshire Ladies Over 30s league, the Soccer Mums are ever evolving.

As part of the Staffordshire Mums Play Football Programme, the Stafford Soccer Mums have been able to increase their numbers from 14 to 44 ladies in just 5 weeks!
Mums Play football is designed to allow all ladies the opportunity to try football for the first time. Whether you are a "soccer mum" taking your children to training, a female looking for a new and enjoyable way to keep fit, or looking to return to a fun format of football, Mums Play Football Provides the perfect foundation.

There are 9 Mums Play Football Centre's in Staffordshire, all providing a fun and inclusive environment for ladies to try football.
