The game got off to a fiery start when Penkridge seized the initiative after just 2 minutes to take a 1-0 lead, however Redgate quickly replied and the scores were back on level terms at 1-1 within 5 minutes.

The football flowed nicely around the Silkmore Lane pitch, with both of the sides creating good chances, however it was the Penkridge pressure on the Redgate goal which proved more dangerous before the half time whistle when they regained the lead on 34 minutes thanks to an own goal.

The game got back underway for the second half and Redgate battled hard to find an equaliser, however Penkridge again hit home in the 67th minute to wrap up a 3-1 victory against a higher division opposition and went on to lift the cup for the first time in their history.
