Ladies Over 30s League
It's never too late
Women over 30 years old are getting the chance to be more than just football supporters. Working in partnership with Sport Across Staffordshire and Stoke-On-Trent, Staffordshire FA have introduced a brand new Ladies Over 30’s League which is believed to be the first of its kind in the country.
The format of the league allows ladies to keep fit and socialise in a format of the game that has little commitment. The league takes place once a month which allows ladies to continue their current commitments but to also enjoy the game in a fun and safe environment.
Bethan Woolley, Staffordshire FA Football Development Officer (Inclusion) said "So many mums turn out week after week to cheer on their daughters and sons, but don’t have the provision to play themselves. The new League allows females with the opportunity to participate in a structured format once a month. This casual commitment allows ladies the opportunity to play the game in a fun environment, but not impact on their already busy lifestyles.”
The 2016/17 season was a fantastic first year for the league as it was crowned Best Inclusive Project at the Staffordshire FA Community Awards.
For the 2017/18 season the Staffordshire Ladies Over 30's League will be played on a monthly basis at the central venue of Bishop Lonsdale Primary School, Eccleshall.
A number of teams from around the county are involved in the new ladies format and there are plenty of opportunities for more ladies over the age of 30 to participate. If you are looking to set up a new session, be that Over 30's, Walking Football or Soccercise please get in touch with the Staffordshire FA Participation Team.
