Silent Support Weekend Feedback

Following the conclusion of The FA’s first Silent Support Weekend, we have gathered the feedback of over 60 youth players in the county.

Following the conclusion of The FA’s first Silent Support Weekend, we have gathered the feedback of over 60 youth players in the county.

The first Silent Support Weekend took place back in November 2022, with a second weekend scheduled for 25th & 26th February 2023.

Ahead of the second weekend, we’re encouraging the players to do the talking, with parents and supporters showing their support from the side-lines through applause only.

Feedback from youth players in Staffordshire after the first weekend was mainly positive, with the full findings as follows;

Did you think it was better to play with the spectators being silent?
Yes (71%)
No (19%)
No Difference (10%)

Why was it better? Out of those that said yes, it was better the following was the response;
Less pressure on them (31%)
They could hear their team mates and talk to each other (60%)
Just enjoyed it more (9%)

Why was it worse?
Missing encouragement from spectators (100%)

Yes (92%)
No (8%)
