Active Through Football is an exciting new programme from Sport England, funded by the National Lottery and the Football Foundation to increase physical activity through football for people aged 16 and over from lower socio-economic groups (LSEG). 

We are delighted to say that the city of Stoke on Trent has been shortlisted to apply for the Active Through Football funding to support the increase of physical activity through football for people aged 18 and over. 

As part of this process, a number of partners in the local area (Staffordshire FA, Stoke on Trent City Council, Stoke City Community Trust, Port Vale Foundation, Engage Communities, Staffordshire University and Together Active) are now working together to consult with individuals, groups and organisations in the area to ensure the views of the community help shape the project to create a stronger and more active city which is a great place to live, work and play.  

The impact of the Covid-19 pandemic is currently seeing a further reduction in activity levels, poor health and an increase in financial hardship in communities. One project cannot solve all of these problems but by understanding your experiences and ideas, it is hoped that the project can begin to make a positive improvement for individuals, families and communities.  

As part of the consultation process to support the application, we would like to hear from you. Whether you have never played football before, are currently involved or have previous history but no longer play, your opinions are valued and appreciated.
