Letter to the Lionesses - We Have A Winner

Olivia, aged five, wins Staffordshire FA Letter to the Lionesses Competition

The Lionesses are in France for the FIFA Women’s World Cup and face the USA on Tuesday 2 July (8pm KO) in a HUGE semi-final tie.

Letter Competition

In celebration of the FIFA Women’s World Cup, Staffordshire FA recently held a competition for children aged 5-11 that asked them to send in a letter of support for the Lionesses.

We received a fantastic number of entries, with children from all around the county penning their words of good luck to the ladies ahead of their game against Norway in the quarter-finals – a clash which England won comfortably 3-0.

Having read all entries, it proved a very tough decision in finding a winner, but our fantastic team at Staffordshire FA finally came to a joint decision.

Olivia, aged five, came out on top. Her letter read:

“I am writing to you because I think you are all superstars and I want to say good luck! Me and my Daddy read about you in 4-4-2 magazine. We saw pictures of Jill, Fran, Keira, Steph and Demi. My favourite Lioness is Keira because she has fish like me. My fish are called George, Boby and Chloe.

Letter CompetitionWe will cheer you on this summer.

Try your best and have fun, love Olivia xxxx”

Following the release of Olivia’s letter, her favourite player, Keira, saw the letter on Twitter.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank everybody for their entries and say a special well done to Xanthe and Lily whose letters were worthy of runners-up places.

We hope you will join us in supporting the Lionesses on Tuesday, as they challenge the USA, current World Cup holders, for a place in the final.

Tune into BBC One from 7.30pm to watch all of the action. Come on England!
