Staffordshire FA’s biggest competition comes to a close on Monday 29 April as Stafford Rangers and Rushall Olympic fight it out for the Senior Cup in association with carline.
The final itself will be held at the home of Stoke City Football Club, the Bet365 Stadium, with kick-off scheduled for 7:30pm.
Looking back at both teams’ routes to the final, Rangers got their Senior Cup campaign off to an entertaining start with a 4-2 victory against Rocester before an eye-catching 3-3 draw in the quarter-finals with Wolverhampton Casuals. Neil Kitching’s men eventually progressed on penalties. They then squeezed past Kidsgrove Athletic 1-0 to book their place in the final.
Elsewhere, Rushall also kept supporters on the edge of their seats as they required a penalty shootout win to progress past Chasetown following a 2-2 draw after 90 minutes. They then earned a relatively straight-forward 2-0 win against Hednesford Town before being drawn to face Stoke City in the semi-finals.
The Pics put in a marvellous performance to oust the Potters to reach the final.
One aspect that could see the final tip one way or the other is Stafford Rangers’ recent pedigree. Including this year’s clash, Stafford have appeared in three out of the last five finals – winning on their two most recent appearances, 2018 against Hednesford Town and again in 2015 against Leek Town.
However, Rushall Olympic have also tasted glory having thumped Kidsgrove Athletic 4-1 in the 2016 final.
