Congratulations to Eaton Park, Sunday Challenge Cup Winners!

The traditional curtain raiser to the County Cup Finals saw Eaton Park of the Potteries and District Sunday League triumph in a 2-1 win over Cannock…

The sides were very evenly matched throughout, however the Cannock Chase League Division 1 side seized the initiative in the first half and lead right until the 70th minute when Pete Williams of Eaton Park smashed home the equalising penalty. It was the first goal that Talbot had conceded in the competition in over 250 minutes of football.

Both sides played good football in an entertaining encounter and the game was destined for Extra-Time before Sam Smith of the PDSL Division 1 side scored a deflected free kick, wrong-footing the Talbot goalkeeper in the 81st minute.

It was a very entertaining game for the 144 spectators in attendance, we extend our thanks to Eccleshall FC for hosting of the tie and sponsors Happy Days Coaches Ltd for their continued sponsorship of the competition.

It was great way to start the County Cup Finals for 2014-15; next up we have Chell Heath Knave v Elmos Celtic on Thursday 12 March at Newcastle Town FC competing for the Sunday Premier Cup.
