Wyrley Juniors FC took part in the FA initiative - 'England Day' - on Saturday 12th June by organising a free of charge mini World Cup Competition for 8 teams representing teams from the England and Brazil World Cup Groups.
Over 40 boys and girls aged 4 to 8 took part in a non-competitive tournament with each player getting 3 games.

Nearly 40 budding Rooneys took part in the event that took place at Cheslyn Hay Community Sports High School. Wyrley Juniors organised the pitches, referees and the fixtures to enable the players to celebrate England's first game against USA later in the day.

The Club were delighted with the success, particularly as 9 new players were attracted and will be signed up to the Club's Soccer School that takes place every Saturday morning 10.30 to 12.00 at Cheslyn Hay Community Sports High School - parents of boys aged 4 to 7 interested in attending should contact Andy on 07834556599.

Keith Hardy, Chairman of Wyrley Juniors FC, said 'We wanted to join in the FA's initiative and show support for England as well as attract new players to the game. The event was a great success and the new players attracted should provide another team for the club, which will have 45 teams next season'.
