The FA Welfare Officer

The FA requires all affiliated Clubs to appoint a designated Club Welfare Officer. The CWO is required to have completed an FA CRB enhanced disclosure through The FA CRB Unit as part of the affiliation criteria.

Club Welfare Officers will promote best practice throughout each club, playing a key role in dealing with poor practice concerns in line with the club or respective league's own disciplinary process.

Pre-requisites
All candidates must hold a valid FA Safeguarding Children in Football workshop certificate and completed an FA CRB enhanced disclosure.

Workshop Outcomes
By the end of the workshop you will be able to:

  • Identify, the club/league building blocks that need to be operational to demonstrate bet practice in relation to safeguarding;
    Have a clear understanding of the Club Welfare Officer's role and responsibilities, along with those for others in the safeguarding support network;
    Act upon concerns about poor practice and pass on those of possible abuse within or outside football;
    Understand the CRB process to take responsibility for the club personnel.
